Weekend away

In May, Abe's work paid for all of the employees to stay at the AZ Grand Hotel in Phoenix for two nights.  The first night was a family night by the pool.  The water was cold,  but Hudson still loved the wave pool.  The next morning we decided to hike around South Mountain a little since we were right next to it- and Hudson had been asking to "climb a mountain" for a while.  Since I wasn't really up to hiking we just walked around the wash.

We were surprised to see a lot of animals and creatures on our short walk.  We saw these two lizards, which Abe tried to pick up, but they quickly ran away.  We saw a bunny, squirrel, and a different kind of lizard also.  I don't think we were walking more than 20 minutes, but Hudson and Abe were both thrilled with all of the things we were able to see. 

When we went back to the car, Hudson reminded us that we forgot to climb the mountain (I had hoped he would think our walk was enough, but I guess not).  So he and Abe decided to trek up a trail while I sat back in the shade for a bit.

After we got back, we went to the little water park they have at the resort.  It was nice to get in the cool pool.  Hudson loved swimming, of course, and probably would've stayed there all day and all night.  That evening there was going to be a nice dinner, so my sister KD was nice enough to pick up Hudson and let him stay the night with her.

Here we are all dressed up for dinner!  The food was really yummy, and it is always nice to have an evening together.  This is an annual tradition for Abe's work that we are definitely looking forward to again!
