I would've never guessed that my child's first major injury would happen at church :). We got to church a little early and sat down in a bench. Hudson was sitting between me and Abe, but he decided to get down. He sort of slipped off the bench and smacked his head right on the corner of the hymn book holder. I grabbed him and took him out, and his forehead started bleeding. Abe came out and I told him I thought he would need stitches. Abe went and got some people in the ward to help us assess the situation (one was a pharmacist, and then he went and got a PA). They both told us they thought he would need stitches. We have an urgent care here in town, so we decided to go there, but they didn't open until 10:00am! (it was a little before 9:00am) So we had to drive to Ahwatukee, but when we got to that urgent care, they didn't accept our insurance. Luckily, the lady at the front was nice enough to look up a place close by that did accept our insurance. So off we went to urgent care #3.

Hudson wouldn't let me put any ice on his head, so he decided to eat it instead.
Once we got to the urgent care they took us back to a room pretty quickly.
But then we waited.....
....tried to get into everything.....and waited......

.....wanted to jump off of everything.....and waited......
....ate some raisins.....and waited....
...and waited...
The doctor (PA) finally came in and took a look at Hudson. She said they probably wouldn't be able to glue it, but that it needed at least 1 or 2 stitches. She said they didn't have the stuff that would numb his forehead before they put the shots of anasthetic in, so we would have to hold him down while he screamed....not exactly what we wanted.... She said we could take him to the ER and they could do it there, but we also didn't want to go wait all day at the ER. She went out and talked to the supervising pediatrician. He came in and looked at Hudson. He decided that they would be able to glue it (YAY!!!). They went out and had the nurse come back in and clean the wound again. He was really good while she was wiping it, so it gave me hope that he would be okay while they were glueing it together.

Here it is all nice and clean before they glued it shut.
When the doctors came back in Hudson had to lay down on the bed, and I held his hands. I sang Old MacDonald to him (he loves music) and he did really well. He was actually almost falling asleep while they were glueing his forehead. The worst part was afterwards not letting him touch it or rub his head on my shoulder. He was crying and trying to rub it, but we were done and were able to escape with no stitches!

Here he is all bandaged up and tuckered out from his adventurous morning.

Oh no! My brother did something similar when we were younger, but we were bowling. I cant believe they would stitch him without giving him anything, that would traumatize me let alone a 1.5 yr old! Are you guys in Maricopa? We lived there last year but just moved before Morgan was born!
I am glad he's ok and they were able to super glue him back together. It seems as though every child needs an eye brow injury or two, lets hope he's done for a while. Benson got his from a trampolene when he was about the same age. It's so scarey.
Poor Hudson! Dang those hymn book holders with sharp edges! I'm so glad he didn't need stitches, superglue is such a great invention :) In the pictures he looks like he's holding up well, what a tough little guy!
Wow! I am so glad he's alright! All of that waiting and waiting made me laugh so hard. He's such a cutie!
i cannot believe that! I guess you just have to watch out for everything
o poor kid. it is bound to happen to all of em! i hate waiting in dr offices with children! but so glad he did ok!

Poor Hudson! He's such a tough kid! I'm glad that they could glue it! I hope he heals fast.
What a sweetie! I am glad that he is alright and that it was nothing more than what is was!
Poor little guy! You should sue the church. I AM TOTALLY KIDDING! I just thought that sounded funny. I'm glad he's okay though.
Oh No! That is so sad, but it looks like he hung in there like a good little trooper.
Hey guys it was fun seeing you last week! How often do you come out here? I want to plan a big game night, so I'll give you some notice and hopefully you can come! -shasta
