New Orleans!

Abe and I went to New Orleans a few weeks ago for his brother, Ben's, wedding. We left Hudson home with my parents. We missed him a lot, but it would have been near to impossible to take him with us and still come home with our sanity! He is just such a busy little guy and so curious... too curious to go to strange new places- especially not very baby/kid friendly places.

We had a lay-over in Texas, and this was one of the first things we saw there This was the bookstore they had everywhere- way to not make me miss my baby! :)

We went to the Riverwalk which was a big shopping center along the Mississippi River. Abe and Ryan discovered some lizards- shocking, huh! :)

They decided to fashion them as earrings

We also had to eat these super yummy begnets from Cafe du Monde. They are french doughnuts completely COVERED in powdered sugar.
Ryan and Lauren also joined us for begnets.... they are addicting, seriously.

Here we are in front of the Mississippi River on the Riverwalk.

The city was quite interesting. It kind of reminded me of Mexico, but you couldn't really barter in the stores because you were still in the US. We did a lot of walking because everything is pretty close. We went to the French quarter and down Bourbon Street. We even rode a mechanical bull- we were quite adventuresome.

RE: leaving Hudson-
It actually went pretty well. Hudson didn't really care- of course, he was busy having fun at Grandma and Grandpa's. I was worried that I would miss him.. I did, but not like I thought I would. I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that all the places we went were NOT kid/baby friendly at all. I kept thinking "I love my Hudson, but this would have been a nightmare to have him here!" :) He is just such a busy body that I would have been crazy before the end of day one- can't even imagine trying to get through an airport and onto a plane with him at this stage. So- to sum it up, I missed him, but I was glad we decided to leave him with his grandparents :)- he probably was thankful, too.

Kudos to you for having the courage to leave Hudson at home. I am still not able to leave Hayden, I would have a hard time. Maybe when he gets into nursery (4 weeks). I am very proud of you for it.
New Orleans is a great vacation too!~
