They're here!

Our little girls decided to arrive on Thursday, September 23rd... a few days before their scheduled c-section.  I had an ultrasound and doctor's appointment that morning.  The doctor told me that the fluid was borderline low, and so she wanted to send me to the hospital to have them check it again.  A couple weeks before I was only dilated to 1/2 cm, but I was curious and wanted the doctor to check me- just to see.  I had been having braxton hicks contractions almost the entire pregnancy, so I didn't really expect much change since I hadn't really had any more contractions than usual.  She checked me and I was at a 4!  I was shocked... even more reason for me to go have things checked out at the hospital.  I got home and we got all of our stuff together in hopes we wouldn't be going back home, and headed to my mom's to drop Hudson off.

One last belly shot at my mom's- 37 weeks and 6 days

At the hospital they hooked me up to the monitors to check things out... I had a few random contractions...same as usual.  The tech came in to do the ultrasound to check the fluid, and as soon as they took the monitors off I had a really big contraction (of course).  I started having stronger contractions while they were doing the ultrasound.  Good news- the fluid looked great.  Bad news- the fluid looked great.  I was worried they were going to send me home- a little scary knowing I was already at a 4 and that I live 30 minutes away from the hospital.  After the ultrasound they hooked me back up to the monitors, and luckily the contractions kept coming.  At first the nurse seemed like they were maybe sending me home, but when I told her about my contractions she decided to check me one more time before she talked to the doctor.  I was at a 4-5!  She talked to the doc and he told her to act as if they were going to admit me... get everything ready etc.  (why didn't he just say to admit me??).  The next time the nurse checked me I was almost at a 6!  By this point I was ready for them to hurry up and get things going because I was getting more and more uncomfortable, and they realized they needed to start hurrying, too, so that my water didn't break.  All of a sudden there were like 5 people in the little triage room all asking me questions and getting us ready for the c-section.
