We went camping with my dad the last weekend in June. We were only there for the weekend, but we all had a really fun time, especially enjoying the nice weather.
We took the kids for a 'hike' one day. We played hide and seek in the trees, and then we played the "treasure" game. All of us girls were queens and the kids had to go and find us certain treasures we asked them to look for including flowers, pine cones, and other various things. In the top left is a pic of Hudson with this cool flower that he was very proud of finding. We asked them to go and find the biggest pine cone they could. Karsten (pictured in the bottom left) comes walking over (barely able to carry his 'pine cone') saying "I got a big one! I got a big pine cone." We all died laughing- it WAS really big, but it wasn't exactly a pine cone... it was some piece of a tree or something.
Grandma and Grandpa brought squirt guns for a water fight. We did this last year, too, but I think the kids were able to manage their guns a little better this year since they are a little bigger.
Naptime was pretty much impossible (why would they want to rest when they are having so much fun?), so we resorted to taking them for rides in the car and rhino.... it worked!
And the part of camping that boys love the most and moms hate-- getting DIRTY!! I am pretty sure Hudson ate his fair share of dirt for the year... I would wash his hands and literally the next second they would be filthy again, oh well. It was pretty dusty where we were at. The picture in the top left was from Hudson taking a face plant into the dirt after I had just put greasy sunscreen on his face... oops.
The morning before we left we decided to go on a lizard hunt. The kids were excited at first, but Karsten had to go back to camp because he was freaking out (lizards aren't exactly his favorite). Hudson kind of wanted to touch them, but would shy away when he got close. I had to post a pic of me holding the lizard, too, since Abe is usually the one to do this kind of stuff... I can be gross too :) lol. I think lizards are pretty much the only thing I would try to catch...definately no bugs.We had a great time camping and are excited to do it again next year!

I love the pic with the dirt all over his face! What would a camping trip be like without getting dirty? hehe. Too Cute!
