Mud football!!!

Once a year our stake does a big mud football activity with a potluck dinner afterwards. We didn't get to go last year, but we decided to give it a try this time. We ended up having a lot of fun (well most of us did), and can't wait to do it again next year!

Getting ready to enjoy the mud.....

...or not!...

Hudson's friend Tate didn't really like the mud that much either, but Hudson HATED it. When I put his feet in it for the first time he totally freaked out. I thought it was kind of funny, but he didn't. I tried to get him used to it, and just let him sit on the not so muddy part, but he still didn't want to have anything to do with it. Better luck next year??

He spent most of the time like this.... or on my hip.....he did not want anything to do with that mud!

Abe played football with the big boys

Here he is getting his foot unstuck from the mud

Our friend Zach came with us, too. He had so much fun. One of the other guys helped the kids "bury" him in the mud.

He thoroughly enjoyed himself...doing somersaults in the mud, swimming around, and building rivers and such. He asked if we could do this again next time he came, but I had to explain to him that we only do this once a year... like Halloween only comes once a year. He thought about it and said, "Like Santa, too." So we will have to remember to invite him again next year!

Overall we had a lot of fun (except Hudson), but I am looking forward to next year when he will hopefully enjoy it more.... after all, what boy doesn't love dirt?!?!

Wow! What a mess. It looks like a lot of fun though. Now there is a good idea for keeping cool in the summer.

What a fun tradition- you never outgrow playing in the mud! Or in Hudson's case, hopefully he will grow INTO playing in the mud :)
