We had quite a fun time celebrating Halloween this year. We took full advantage and used the whole month to hit lots of parties and get tons of candy :)
We started early in the month with a party at our friends, Jessica and Devon's, house. Jessica loves to do parties and always has super cute decorations and lots of fun activities for the kids to do. We made cute little witch hands and Jessica also did face painting. Hudson wouldn't let her do any face paint on him, though. Oh well, maybe next year! These are some pics of our friends that were there.
Then a little later in the month we decided to do a little sugar cookie decorating play date. Abe found this big tub of Halloween cookie cutters at a yard sale for cheap, so it inspired us. Tenille was kind enough for us to do it at her house and she made all the dough. The moms took the duty of rolling out the dough and cutting them, then after they were baked and cooled we let the kids have at it! Hudson decorated a few, but he was more interested in what he had found in Tenille's backyard...
a praying mantis! I tell you, this kid loves bugs.... I think its kinda gross, but he and his dad think it is super cool... oh well. This one actually wasn't too bad... I actually thought it was kind of a cool bug, too.
Then came Halloween week and we got our own pumpkins to carve. I thought Hudson would love helping us gut out the pumkin because he could get all dirty, but he was a little grossed out by it. I guess I don't blame him, it is a little gooey and gross. Abe carved this alien thing, and Hudson and I made a jack-o-lantern face. I asked him what shape he wanted and he told me where to put it. I am not the greatest pumpking carver, so it was nice to have the excuse that my 2 year old helped me! :)Finally... costume time!
Hudson loves Lightning McQueen, so it was perfect when some friends of ours let us have this jumpsuit their son had outgrown. We already had the hat (a previous garage sale find) and Hudson also had cool Lightning McQueen shoes that light up to complete the ensemble.SO CUTE!!
We met my sisters at one of their ward's trunk-or-treats the night before Halloween. It was fun to see the cousins all dressed up in their costumes. Hudson loved to trick-or-treat and completely insisted on carrying his own bucket of candy... even when it got so heavy he could barely hold it. This kid loves candy. I also had to laught at this picture of Hudson and Karsten digging through the bag of candy- as if they didn't get enough of their own, they had to come raid Grandma's stash too!All in all, we had a very fun halloween and definately got WAY too much candy. Abe and I dressed up as McQueen's pit crew. I wore this jacket that was probably made for a 5-year old, but it fit me as a 3/4 sleeve jacket :) and Abe had a mechanic's jumpsuit complete with grease on the face and a plastic wrench. Hope you had a happy Halloween!
